Everyone’s favourite bakery is opening a seasonal sister venue that will offer lunch and dinner in a beautiful garden setting.
There’s nothing quite like a freshly baked slice of sourdough or a flaky croissant to start your day, especially when it’s from the food-loving folks at Berkelo. With four successful outposts across the Northern Beaches, the bakery has announced the opening of its exciting new garden restaurant in Terrey Hills, Bar Berkelo.
“Our goal from the beginning has been to create delicious food, using sustainable produce to promote happy, healthy customers and local communities,” says founder, Tom Eadie. “The same goes for Bar Berkelo – we are extending that belief into our lunch and dinner venue and look forward to sharing it all with you very soon.”
The new venture is an extension of Eadie’s belief that simple food is the best food and that ingredients should be left to speak for themselves.
“I’ve had my eye on this site at Terrey Hills for a number of years. There is something very special about it, especially the mix between tropical and bushland…,” he says. “I’m looking forward to taking care of the land and providing the community with a beautiful restaurant and garden to eat and drink at, either solo or with friends and family.”
A gentle, homely and comforting approach to food and hospitality is what diners can expect at Bar Barkelo. “We work with the seasons; we’re inspired by the Australian climate and what’s available to us from our incredible organic farmers and local producers, combining that with the simplistic nature of Mediterranean cooking that I feel very connected to,” Eadie explains.
“We’ll also be offering wood-fired sourdough pizzas as an ode to our love of bread because it’s been a big journey that led us here to our first sister restaurant.”
As for the drinks menu, there will be cocktails, wine and beer, along with non-alcoholic options – some of which will be locally sourced.
If all goes to plan, Bar Berkelo will open in the first week of December for lunch, dinner and events. They have also started selling coffee and fresh “sourdoughnuts” from their Berkelo van on site facing out to Mona Vale Road. Pull in and say hi!
