There’s a little corner of Italy now tucked away in Dee Why, where the air smells of freshly baked bread and slow-roasted porchetta…
Welcome to Casa Focaccia, the new local gem on Fisher Road, where Northern Beaches’ own Loredana Curcio has brought her lifelong passion for authentic Italian food to life.
For Loredana, food has always been more than sustenance – it’s art, culture, and connection. Growing up in Italy, she learned the secrets of baking from her mother and grandmother, carrying those family traditions across continents to Australia.
“Food carries stories of our past and traditions,” she says, “and sharing it is one of life’s greatest joys. I am thrilled to share my authentic flavours with the community now at Casa Focaccia.”
After years of dreaming, the right spot in Dee Why suddenly came along – and Loredana seized it. With support from her family, she turned that dream into Casa Focaccia, which officially opened its doors on September 24, 2025.
“Starting something new always comes with a bit of fear and uncertainty,” she says. “But my husband and kids encouraged me to take the leap and follow this dream.”

Inside, you’ll find a space that feels instantly welcoming – part bakery, part sandwich haven, and all heart. Every morning begins before dawn, with dough that’s been fermenting overnight to create focaccia that’s light, flavourful, and delightfully easy to digest. Each base is then filled with premium ingredients – from creamy mozzarella and roasted vegetables to their star of the show, house-made porchetta, which is seasoned and slow-roasted every week.
This isn’t just another sandwich shop – it’s a love letter to Italian craftsmanship.
“We don’t use shortcuts or pre-made ingredients,” Loredana says proudly. “Everything is made fresh, every day, because our customers deserve honest food. It’s a daily ritual of quality, care, and Italian tradition, right here in Dee Why.”
Locals seem to agree. Since opening, the response from the community has been warm and enthusiastic. Regulars are returning and spreading the word.
“Dee Why has such a welcoming vibe, and people have been genuinely curious and enthusiastic about what Casa Focaccia offers,” says Loredana. “It’s been amazing to connect with locals who appreciate quality and tradition. It makes all the hard work feel truly worthwhile. We’ve also loved seeing how word spreads through social media. Customers share their experience, tag us, and help build a sense of excitement and connection online. It’s a beautiful mix of local warmth and digital buzz.”
Casa Focaccia’s menu is carefully considered and curated for maximum enjoyment in every bite.
“The most popular items at Casa Focaccia are Bologna (with mortadella), Crudo (with Prosciutto), al Pollo (with chicken Schnitzel) and Gizzeroto (with home made porchetta which is right now in the oven),” Loredana says.
What people love most? The soul behind every sandwich – the patience, tradition, and care that go into each loaf. And beyond the food, it’s the warmth of a family-run business that makes Casa Focaccia feel like home.
“For us, it’s not just about serving food,” says Loredana, “it’s about creating a space where people feel welcomed, cared for, and part of something special. Watching someone take that first bite and smile, or hearing them say they’ve been looking forward to coming back – that’s the kind of connection that makes all the hard work worthwhile.”
