Dee Why Hotel has had many a makeover, and its about to have another –  with a multi-million-dollar refresh featuring an exciting new sports bar and greenhouse-inspired dining space.

Owned and operated by the local Bayfield family since the late 70s, Dee Why Hotel will undergo a significant transformation revealing new spaces that feature retro finishes and a nostalgic nod to the pub’s family history.

The revamped hotel will feature two exciting new spaces. First is Mr B’s, the name of the original sports bar from the 90s will be back, named after the late Neville Bayfield, this time as a retro-inspired sports bar featuring the biggest TV sports wall on the Northern Beaches. And Jade’s, a lush emerald greenhouse inspired bistro and private event space named in honour of the late Neville Bayfield’s first grandchild and the original bistro named in the early 80s. The refreshed design brings playful energy and local charm with contrasting emerald green walls, soft pink ceilings and art deco furnishes.

‘Doing a renovation of this size and scale for a beloved local institution is a huge undertaking. We have a four generation legacy at Dee Why Hotel and we are so proud of what we are going to deliver to the community. The sports bar is going to offer one of the best sports viewing experiences in Sydney, and the feel of the entire venue will be lifted,’ says Kaine Bayfield, Chief Operating Officer.

Dee Why Hotel has been a family-run institution since 1977, when the late Neville Bayfield and his two sons, Mark and Wayne took the reins. Today, the Bayfield family continues to build on that legacy – creating a vibrant pub designed for the next generation of locals, families, sports fans and milestone moments.

At Mr B’s, local sports fanatics will be able to catch every game on a whopping 10 metre LED sports wall, offering a fully immersive viewing experience unlike anything else on the Northern Beaches. The space will feature a playful yet polished design with a modern nod to retro with vibrant upholstery, bold carpet patterns and an energetic and social feel.

The transformation, led by Richards Stanisich, Surry Hills based interior design and architecture practice, continues across the pub and bistro. The once-dark interiors will be opened up, drenching Dee Why Hotel with plenty more light. Featuring turmeric mustard, eucalyptus greens, pink sand and polished tiles. Natural timbers and soft textures complete the look, blending retro charm with relaxed modern sophistication.

Unveiling alongside the renovation will be a new seasonal bistro menu, celebrating hearty favourites and elevated pub classics for great value. Dee Why Hotel’s famous weekly burger specials are also getting a glow-up, with bold new flavours and bigger stacks to warm up the cooler months.

Alongside Dee Why Hotel, The Bayfield Hotel Group owns The Belrose Hotel, Bayfield’s Liquor Superstore at Dee Why and Belrose, and Bayfield’s online. They previously owned The Newport Arms, The Light Brigade, The Caringbah Hotel, The Narrabeen Sands, and Newport Mirage.

Dee Why Hotel is open and trading as usual, the renovation is underway and will cause little disruptions to patrons. The renovations and new spaces are set for completion this winter.
