A fun new addition to Collaroy, Happy Roo Tiny Town is quickly becoming a go-to play-date destination for local families with young children.

Designed as a boutique-style play area, Happy Roo Tiny Town blends imaginative role-play with a calm, thoughtfully curated environment where both kids and parents can feel at ease.

Focused on imaginative play, the play centre is for preschoolers aged 1–6, and consists of mini “town” filled with themed cubbies – a café, hospital, vet, salon, building site, and more.

Opened in 2025, Happy Roo Tiny Town is the vision of local parents, Natasha and Paul, who understand firsthand the needs of families. Says Natasha, “I have a background in creating children’s spaces and hands-on experience raising young children. The idea grew naturally from everyday life with little ones and a desire to build a calm, imaginative play space for families in the community.”

The concept centres on children’s love of role-play. From mini shops to kitchens and a doctor’s corner, the ‘Tiny Town’ invites little ones to mimic real-world experiences in a safe and engaging way.

“The concept came from watching how much children love role-play and ‘real world’ play – shops, cafés, doctors, home life,” Natasha says. “I wanted to create a space where children could safely explore that imagination in a calm, beautiful environment designed just for them.”

Equally important is the experience for parents. It’s a lovely relaxed setting for playdates or having some one-on-one fun with your child. While food isn’t available on site, Natasha says there are picnic tables where you can eat food you’ve brought with you. “Astin Min Cafe is near us, too, and has great take away,” she says. There is a coffee machine at Happy Roo Tiny Town – with a free coffee on offer!

“Happy Roo Tiny Town was created as a place where mums, dads and carers can simply come, relax, and enjoy a playdate without the pressure of hosting at home – no need to clean the house, or worry about mess, and the children stay happily engaged and entertained,” explains Natasha.

Collaroy was a natural fit for the concept. “The Northern Beaches was an easy choice because it’s a family-focused area with a strong community feel and lots of young children,” Natasha notes, adding there was “a clear gap for a boutique-style tiny town play space designed specifically for younger children.”

Since opening, the response has been overwhelmingly positive.

“Children naturally gravitate to the different play zones and enjoy moving between roles and scenarios,” shares Natasha. “Parents often share that their children stay engaged for the entire session and love coming back.”

Each play session at Happy Roo Tiny Town is for two hours, and they also offer birthday party and group hire.

A single child’s pass is $25, a sibling pass (2 children) is $40, and a Family Pass (3 children) is $51.  Tiny Town is designed especially for preschoolers aged 1–6 years old. Older siblings are welcome to join in gently, but the play spaces are best suited to little ones in this age range.
