Raise your glasses and get ready for a wine-tastic adventure with Australia’s most popular self-guided wine tasting experience, Urban Wine Walk, coming to Manly.

Now in its eighth year, the much-loved event Urban Wine Walk is arriving in Manly and will see the neighbourhood’s best venues transform into an urban cellar door for the community’s enjoyment on Saturday, August 12. The brilliant concept is the brainchild of Josh Starick who says it’s become a huge success in over 20 different locations across Australia and New Zealand.

“The Urban Wine Walk was an opportunity for us to bring the traditional cellar door tasting experience to a convenient, urban location,” says Josh. “It’s like a reverse wine weekender – without having to travel hours to visit wineries. It also partners incredible winemakers with local venues for the afternoon, providing guests with an opportunity to enjoy wine tasting experiences whilst visiting and supporting their local venues at the same time.”

Urban Wine Walkers will get to plan their own wine adventure, moving from venue to venue while sampling different hero wines at each. The best part? All the venues are within walking distance of each other so you don’t need to worry about driving or getting a taxi.

The participating venues and producers are the heart and soul of the event, and Manly’s venues have been handpicked by Josh. “We love Manly so it’s always been a neighbourhood we’ve wanted to host the event,” he says. “The Urban Wine Walk is designed to provide locals with something fun to do in their own backyard without having to travel too far. It also provides those not from Manly a fun reason to visit, check out all of the amazing venues and of course taste some amazing wines.”

From cosy bars to stylish restaurants, each venue offers a unique ambience for you to sample incredible Australian wines. This year’s Manly venues and winemakers include:

  1. Donny’s Bar ft. Greasy Fingers (SA)
  2. Garfish ft. De Beaurepaire Wines (NSW)
  3. Hotel Steyne ft. Hungerford Hill (NSW)
  4. InSitu ft. Half Full Wine Company (SA)
  5. Ivanhoe Hotel ft. Sweetwater (NSW)
  6. Little Pearl ft. Little Frances (VIC)
  7. The Cumberland ft. Brokenwood Wines (NSW)
  8. The Herring Room ft. Nick Spencer Wines (NSW)
  9. The Hold ft. Torch Bearer Wines (TAS)
  10. Wharf Bar ft. Corduroy Wines (SA) & Quartz Reef Wines (NZ)

“We aim to program as many risk-taking, next-gen and independent winemakers as we can – and introduce them to new, receptive audiences,” says Josh.

Of course, the Urban Wine Walk is not just about the wine; it’s also about supporting local businesses and bringing the community together – all in a fun wine-tasting adventure.
