Chinese Peacock Dance Workshop (5+ years)

January 17, 2023 @ 10:30 am - 12:00 pm

Move your body as you learn the steps of this beautiful peacock dance!

The Peacock Dance is a beloved dance in the Dai Minority area of Yunnan Province, China. To the Dai, the peacock is a symbol of good luck, happiness, beauty and honesty, so to perform this dance is to express good wishes for a happy life.

In this workshop, professional ballet and Chinese dance teacher Shanshan Fan, will teach you how to imitate the peacock’s postures and steps involving arms, wrists, fingers, legs and eyes. You will also learn how to combine these soft movements into an elegant dance style.

Shanshan Fan has won numerous solo and group dance competitions and has performed in different festivals, celebrations and on TV.

No dancing experience is required.

Suitable for ages 5+.
