Lunar New Year Comedy Festival

 Get ready to laugh out loud with your family and friends to celebrate the year of the Rabbit. The festival’s fantastic line-up showcases some of Australia’s best and fastest-rising comedians.

Diana Nguyen

Diana Nguyen is a standup comedian and actor who has performed at Comedy Festivals around Australia, including Melbourne International Comedy Festival, Edinburgh and Los Angeles with shows including Phi and Me, Naked and Diry Diana. She has appeared guest panellists on The Project, QandA, Friday Front Bar and Fox Footy. Her acting CV work include How to stay married, Fat Pizza, Please Like Me, Jack Irish, Underbelly and other 20 seconds roles. She is also the co-creator of the first ever Vietnamese Australian family comedy webseries called Phi and Me TV – 5 episodes on www.phiandme.tv celebrating Vietnamese refugee migration to Australia and the hilarious trials of intergenerational family love.

Nina Oyama


Nina Oyama is a 26 year old, half Japanese, writer, director and comedian from Sydney, Australia. At age 19, Nina scored her first television writing job on You’re Skitting Me Season 2 after a producer saw her performing stand up comedy in a dingy room in Kings Cross. Nina has also acted in multiple roles on sketch show Kinne Tonight as well as creating skits for millennial news site Pedestrian TV, who were so impressed with her work that they gave her the regular hosting role on Big Flick Energy, a movie show which aired on Channel 9Go! As a stand-up comedian, Nina was nominated for the Best Newcomer Award at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival and has performed on Stand Up at Bella Union, and more recently Just for Laughs at the Sydney Opera House.

Harry Jun

Harry Jun is a Sydney based comedian, host and cartoonist. He is the host of ABC Gamer’s The Loot Drop, a weekly gaming news show with hot takes, sketches and silly jokes. Harry started performing stand-up in 2017 and has performed at venues all over Australia and recently performed a sold-out run of the 2022 Sydney Comedy Festival at Enmore Theatre. Harry was a RAW Comedy NSW State Finalist in 2019 and 2020. His comedy has been described as “effervescent”, “fast” and “engaging”.

Jenny Tian

A regular on the stand-up comedy circuit, Jenny Tian has appeared at Fringe Festivals all over the country and was a Comedian of The Year finalist in 2019. Often called “relatable” by her audiences, she sold out her debut solo hour Picture This at the Sydney Comedy, Sydney Fringe and Laugh Outta Lockdown Festival. Jenny is also the creator, co-writer and star of the TikTok x Screen Australia web series Coach Dayum! one of the projects chosen to receive the Every Voice $50,000 grant. Known most famously as @nomnomjenny on TikTok, Jenny’s been recognised internationally for her dry wit and everyday observations.

AJ Lamarque


AJ Lamarque is one of Australia’s rising stars in Comedy. A proud Mixed Race, Queer comedian, AJ has garnered a formidable reputation as a skilled writer and charismatic performer. He was a 2022 Sydney Fringe Festival Official Ambassador and was selected to be a part of the Australian Council for the Art’s Future Leader program for 2022/2023 for his work in the Comedy industry. He was also invited to join Sydney Comedy Festival’s prestigious FRESH Program for 2022 with his show English Breakfast. In 2020, AJ made it to the NSW RAW Comedy State Finals.

Ting Lim

Singaporean born Ting Lim is a stand up comedian, writer and actor of Chinese heritage based in Australia. Her dry sarcastic observations have endeared her to audiences since she represented QLD in the prestigious Melbourne International RAW comedy competition. Since then, she has toured sold-out comedy shows across Australia and opened for Marty Sheargold, Demetri Martin and Beth Stelling. She has been featured on the award winning show, Fisk and written for television.

Chris Nguyen


Chris Nguyen is an award-nominated Australian comedian and writer. In 2019 he was nominated for the Sydney Fringe Award for Best Comedy. He was also RAW Comedy NSW State Finalist in 2020/21. In 2022 his debut tour ‘It’s Pronounced Nguyen’ had a sell out run at the Sydney Comedy Festival and the inaugural Wollongong Comedy Festival. He is also the host of New Bit Comedy, a weekly stand-up show at 1989 Arcade Bar in Newtown.

Kevin Jin

Kevin Jin is a Sydney comedian and was a 2018 Raw Comedy National Finalist. He sold out his 2021 and 2022 Sydney Comedy Festival runs and did a really good job. He is also the host of the ‘Love Me Love My Anxiety’ podcast on SBS, which is educational and wholesome but still funny. He has had a rat’s tail for his entire life.
