Exciting news! The Boathouse Group will soon have another restaurant in the area – only its more like a precinct with play area, stage for live music and several dining spaces…
The long-awaited development of “The Farmhouse” in Terrey Hills has been given the go-ahead, with planning authorities giving final approval to the Boathouse Group’s ambitious dining project.
The Sydney North Planning Panel has officially endorsed the construction of the $16 million dining hub that will accommodate nearly 600 guests on a semi-rural site on Myoora Road in Terrey Hills.

The Terrey Hills venue will become the newest flagship location for the Boathouse Group, which operates a portfolio of 12 hospitality venues spanning from the Central Coast down to Wollongong.
The project has experienced significant evolution since its initial conception. The hospitality group’s original vision called for a considerably larger $33 million development featuring three distinct restaurants across two buildings, designed to accommodate up to 800 patrons on the 1.6-hectare property.
However, following comprehensive discussions with Northern Beaches Council addressing various planning concerns, the proposal was streamlined into a more focused approach. The revised plan centres on a single, expansive covered dining facility complemented by multiple outdoor eating areas, creating a more cohesive dining experience while addressing community concerns about noise and parking.

Community feedback about the development has been mixed throughout the planning process. When the development application was publicly exhibited late last year, it generated 43 community submissions that divided local opinion. Twenty-two residents expressed support for the venture, while 21 opposed the development.
The planning panel acknowledged this community engagement in their written determination, noting that the final design “benefited from extensive consultation with the council, the community and government agencies.” They specifically highlighted how “the final proposal is a substantial downsizing of the original application with resultant reduction of impacts on the site, neighbours and environment.”

The new plans feature a single restaurant building with outdoor dining options, 211 car parks, a private dining room, a children’s play area and a lawn space. A small stage is also planned for live music from midday to 10pm. Construction timelines and opening dates are expected to be announced following the completion of final planning documentation and building permit approvals.

The Farmhouse development is expected to bring both an exciting new venue and employment opportunities to the Northern Beaches. With its semi-rural setting and proximity to transport, the venue aims to offer a unique dining destination that balances accessibility with the rural charm of Terrey Hills. We can’t wait!
The Farmhouse joins a host of great venues in Terrey Hills, from The Palms and Berkelo to kid-friendly Frankie’s Food Factory and the Swing Factory. Not to forget one of the Beaches’ best Indian restaurants, Urban Tadka and The Tasting Deck at Forestway Fresh for fresh produce and delicious ready-made meals.
