It’s a favourite event on the local calendar – the German International School Sydney’s Winter Christmas Market at Terrey Hills.
One weekend a year, the German International School Sydney (GISS) on the Northern Beaches brings the festive season forward and transforms its playgrounds and classrooms into a magical winter festival.
The much-loved Winter Christmas Market is happening this year on the 23rd and 24th of August – so mark your diary!
Members of the community will again be treated to all the wintery fun and beauty of a traditional German Christmas Market. Expect to find feature lantern walks, marshmallow roasting, and a wonderful array of market stalls.
The popular event caters to young and old alike, with the lovingly adorned open-air market stalls offering handmade ornaments, festive decorations, candles, wooden art and crafts.
Make sure you bring your appetite for the delicious traditional German food and drink. There’s even a Glühwein Hut! Known as mulled wine in English, Glühwein is winter magic in a glass designed to warms hands and souls during Germany’s cold winter months.
Something New For This Year’s Market…
This year, the Christmas Market will also feature a roller skating disco. This new attraction promises fun for all ages and is the perfect opportunity to get into the festive spirit while enjoying an entertaining activity.
“Get ready to roll at the GISS Christmas Christmas Market with our exciting Roller Skate Lessons & Disco! This fun-filled event is perfect for all ages and will take place in the GISS Sports Hall between 5 and 9pm on both days”.

Take The Free Christmas Market Shuttle Bus
Parking is limited close to the school, but GISS will offer a free bus shuttle service between 5pm – 9.15pm to and from the Christmas Market.
The GISS bus will stop at six public bus stops along Myoora Road (please signal the drivers). This will allow visitors to park further away from the school.
You can, of course, also drop any guests off at the school as seating is limited on the shuttle bus.
