For the first time, seven of the best venues within Brookvale’s brewery and distillery scene are coming together to bring you BrookieFest, a three-day festival celebrating the vibrant social, arts and drinking precinct on the Northern Beaches.

Get set for BrookieFest taking place from Friday 9th to Sunday 11th February this year. The participating venues include Freshwater Brewing Co, 4 Pines, Bucketty’s, Dad & Dave’s and 7th Day Brewery, plus Manly Spirits Co and Goodradigbee Distillers.

Each venue will be running a mix of entertaining and somewhat eccentric activities for all ages to enjoy from midday until late each day, giving all walks of life (including non-alcohol drinkers) a chance to discover what an exciting precinct Brookie has become.

Fancy yourself a silent disco or BYO vinyl meet-up at Freshwater Brewing? Or Daschund racing with the kids at Bucketty’s? Maybe chilling out in a Budgie Smuggler pop-up spa at Manly Spirits Co. is more your vibe. Everyone is bound to find something they’ll love in the lineup.

The best part is that entry to the festival is free, and your kids and furry friends are more than welcome to join in on the fun.

The Northern Beaches’ craft beer and distilling scene has become so much more than a place to drink with mates. These local businesses provide an alternative space that welcomes all members of the community, as well as an opportunity to discover emerging local artists, bands, and boutique brands and even make new friends.

In the past, Brookvale was known for car dealerships, mechanics and tile warehouses. It’s safe to say the area is on a journey of transformation.

Once an area that the Northern Beaches locals bypassed, it’s now a thriving suburb ready to discover and revisit. In this new era, Brookvale is renowned for coffee roasters, the growing art scene (thanks to the work from the Brookvale Art District & local galleries), and above all else the brewers and distillers.

Jonny Bucknall, Founder of Freshwater Brewing Co, says: “We have been wanting to organise a festival that celebrates the area for a while now. We realised that a collective voice is louder than us all individually chipping away trying to attract new people to the area.”

“We’ve invested substantial time and effort into putting on a fun weekend, full of entertainment, great beverages and delicious food in the hope it will encourage people to explore the area and hopefully come back again and again,” he adds.

Over BrookieFest, Freshwater Brewing Co. will be offering a huge lineup of activities.

Friday February 9th:

Grab yourself a $1 coffee from 7am – 10am thanks to the legends at Milk Lab.

Shake your rump at the Silent Disco from 6pm. There will be three channels to choose from and 50 headsets to enjoy, plus some solid party tunes for those not participating by Jack Ferris.

Saturday February 10th:

The Cafe is serving up 50 FREE Dr. Dough doughnuts from 7am

From 2pm there will be back-to-back DJs powered by the legendary Inner West Reggae Disco Machine. The lineup includes Tom Bruce & Cleo, Prop Joe, Delaboss and the Inner West Reggae Disco crew themselves.

Sunday February 11th:

Recover from a huge Saturday with a $20 bacon & egg roll and Mimosa, Michelada or Schooner breaky deal.

DJs will also be playing all arvo, but you can BYO vinyl!

To find out what’s going on at each venue over BrookieFest, there will be a digital passport on offer to encourage people to explore all participating breweries and distilleries over the weekend.

The inaugural three-day extravaganza is all about celebrating the community – and the locally-made booze – and is set to be a good time, whether you’re a local or not.
