Known for its boutique classes, expert teachers and friendly vibe, Xen Studios at Warriewood is far beyond your typical fitness and Pilates studio…

At Xen Studios the focus is not just on exercise, it’s on you and your path to better health and wellbeing. Located in tranquil, leafy Daydream Street in Warriewood, you can feel the ‘zen’ as soon as you walk in.

After experiencing the transformative impact of Pilates herself, owner Caryn Hanley embarked on a journey to obtain her Diploma with Pilates International Training Centre so she could share the life-changing benefits of this low-impact exercise with others.

“I discovered Pilates when recovering from major surgery,” Caryn shares. “Within a few weeks, the headaches and backaches that had plagued me for years disappeared, along with the sciatica that I had been battling with since my early twenties. In just over three months, I lost 13kg and was fitter and stronger than I had ever been.”

Caryn recalls the day she came across the beautiful studio in Daydream Street at Warriewood. “I literally walked through the doors, saw the big floor-to-ceiling windows and trees outside and it just felt right. Everything just fell into place and within four weeks I was officially the owner of a Pilates studio.”

Xen Studios has since gone from strength to strength, and has recently increased its team to six instructors, each with unique experiences ranging from physiotherapy to dance, sports, and yoga. This contributes to the diverse and enriching variety of classes available for clients.

“We primarily do clinical Pilates which is done in either private or semi-private classes,” Caryn explains. “We use the full array of Pilates equipment including the Wunda chair, Cadillac, reformer and high barrel in our classes, and each client has their own personalised program which is constantly modified and adapted to suit their needs and goals.”

Xen Studios also offers specialised small group classes for four to six clients, including:

  • Reformer – a fun full-body workout that increases fitness and strength, and improves flexibility, posture and balance
  • Strong Bones and Balance – targets osteoporosis, osteopenia, bone density, balance and general overall mobility
  • Healthy Hips – focuses on hip mobility and correct muscle recruitment for people who have had or are preparing for hip replacements
  • Stretch (in-studio and online) – maintains and improves flexibility and range of movement
  • Sail 100 program – deals with the unique demands that sailing places on the body and helps keep you sailing until you’re 100
  • Corporate classes – target the parts of the body that are most affected by working in an office environment

“We are a studio that works with any shape or size of body, any level of fitness, and can cater for a wide range of conditions and limitations,” Caryn adds. “Our clients range from 17 to 84 years young, and as a team, we all firmly believe that Pilates is for everybody. We have a wonderful group of clients and the studio is always a happy, ‘feel-good’ place for us and for them.”

Xen Studios is currently offering an intro special where new clients can trial five reformer classes for just $50. You can explore their full range of classes and timetables online.
