The Public Dining Room and its head chef have done it again. The restaurant’s Summer menu is out and it features local produce and flavour combinations you are going to fall in love with. All in a stunning beachfront setting of course. Let’s tuck in.
The Public Dining Room offers casual fine dining in a luxuriously open and relaxed space overlooking the stunning waters of Balmoral Beach. The Scandinavian inspired look designed by one of Australia’s most renowned designers, Hecker Guthrie, makes dining at the restaurant an unmissable experience. You can sit at the main a la carte dining room and bar, the private dining room that looks onto the beach or the outdoor terrace that’s best enjoyed on a bright day.
What’s on Public Dining Room’s Summer menu?
The restaurant is well-known among North Shore locals for its dishes inspired by Australian produce and their new Summer menu keeps to that theme with stunning flavour profiles that will suit a warm day.

The menu’s ‘raw cured’ selection features Australia’s finest oysters, Hiramasa kingfish and a vodka and black sea salt-cured salmon.
Small plates for Summer range from fish rillette brioche, crispy skin bangalow pork belly to confit grilled octopus, panfried scallops and crispy flash fried calamari… are you hungry yet?

There’s a whole menu section around leaves and heirloom vegetables, showing that side dishes are well and truly moving to front of mind! And of course the larger plates (like all of Public Dining Room’s food) are perfect for sharing. They include the mussel pot (we think this one will be a hit), Lord Nelson beer-battered fish, slow cooked lamb shoulder and vegetarian risotto.

Head on to the restaurant’s website for a full look at its summer menu and to make your booking asap!
Meet the culinary mastermind behind the delectable menu
Adam Tyl, head chef at Public Dining Room, originally hails from Poland but has a keen interest in Australian native ingredients which he’s been interweaving into the restaurant’s menus. He has brought the iconic eatery’s food back to basics to let the seasonal and fresh produce shine. Chef Tyl “wants diners to be excited and surprised by what his menu has to offer”.
And it’s working. Public Dining Room was recently nominated for Chef of the Year (Adam Tyl), Informal Dining and Consumer Vote Award in the 2020 Restaurant & Catering Awards for Excellence. Congratulations to all the team!
