If you grew up in the area, you will remember singing along to the Piano Man at Minskys Hotel in Cremorne.

John Watson, the O.G. piano man, played at Minskys for over 35 years, and if you want to relive your youth, and stretch your vocal cords, you can find him next Saturday night at Manly’s newest bar, Henry G’s.

Strolling along the Corso, it’s easy to miss Henry G’s. And that’s how some locals would prefer it – to keep this hidden gem to themselves. We’re sorry, but with an extensive wine and cocktail list, delicious small plates, piano nights, jazz sessions, book clubs, and informative wine tastings, it’s too good not to share.

The bar soft-opened in November and has taken the time to refine its extensive wine offering, and delicious food pairings. Manly’s hospitality collective, Saga Group, also responsible for Donny’s, are now ready to tear down the butcher’s paper and spread the word about Henry G’s Wine Parlour.

Named after ‘Father of Manly’, Henry Gilbert Smith, the parlour’s walls are adorned with historical photos and information about the local legend. The gorgeous interior, decorated with over 2000 antique books, is a cosy and inviting atmosphere for wine enthusiasts to unwind and indulge.

Boasting a collection of over 170 carefully selected wines, Henry G’s showcases some of the best varietals from around the globe. The venue’s knowledgeable staff, passionate about the world of wine, are on hand to guide guests through the selections, ensuring a memorable and personalised experience.

The culinary offering at Henry G’s is equally impressive. It features a thoughtfully crafted small bites (known as pintxos) menu inspired by the Spanish tradition of small, flavourful bites. Each dish is designed to complement the diverse wine selection, and we can confirm it’s delicious.

A world away from the noise and bright lights of the Corso, Pete Jenkins, Jorja Thomson, and Steve Helms from the Saga Group have truly created something unique with this new venue.

“We wanted to deliver a venue where patrons could take one step off the Corso and immerse themselves in a world of exceptional wines and pintxos, all while paying homage to Manly’s history. The response has been positive and we’re thrilled that Manly locals are excited to experience Henry G’s,” says Pete.

Whether you’re starting your night there or stopping in after dinner, Henry G’s is an experience unlike anything Manly has seen before. Just don’t tell too many people.
