If you enjoy the annual Hunter Valley Uncorked events closer to home, heading to the region itself offers a chance to experience the vineyards at a slower pace, with a full day dedicated to wine and food.

On Saturday 14 March 2026, A Little Bit of Broke invites visitors to explore a quieter side of the Hunter Valley through a roaming wine, food and music event. Just 20 minutes from the heart of the Hunter, Broke Fordwich is often described as the trail less travelled — a lesser-known pocket of the region known for its relaxed pace and boutique producers. For those looking for a more immersive wine and food experience, it’s well suited to visitors happy to make the journey.

A Different Side of the Hunter Valley

The Broke Fordwich region is recognised for its small-batch wines, including classic Hunter Valley varieties such as Semillon, Chardonnay and Shiraz. In recent years, local winemakers have also embraced a broader range of styles, reflecting the region’s evolving approach to winegrowing. A Little Bit of Broke offers a straightforward way to experience this diversity in one day.

What To Expect On The Day

Designed as a self-guided day in the vineyards, A Little Bit of Broke allows visitors to move between 15 cellar doors, farms and dining spots at their own pace. Throughout the day, guests can sample small-batch wines, enjoy local food and catch live music across the region.

Each venue offers something different, including:

  • Boutique wine tastings, vineyard views and opportunities to meet the winemakers

  • Long-table lunches and locally sourced produce, including olives from a nearby olive farm

  • Grazing platters, charcuterie, seafood, dumplings and paddock-to-plate dining

A number of producers also offer guided tastings, winery tours, sensory experiences and masterclasses, which can be booked directly. These experiences provide an opportunity to explore the region in more depth.

Planning Ahead

Tickets include access to all participating venues, live music across the region, an event wine glass and tasting vouchers. As the event is self-drive, visitors are encouraged to plan transport in advance. For those travelling from the Northern Beaches, staying locally can make it easier to turn the visit into a relaxed Hunter Valley weekend, with a range of houses and B&Bs available — including accommodation set among the vineyards.

Pre-sale tickets are available for $35 and include an event wine glass, four 60ml wine tasting vouchers and an event program. Book before 1 March to go in the draw to win a dozen premium Broke Fordwich wines.
