Have you discovered this delicious deli at the bottom of the stairs on the Corso in Manly? Norma’s Deli is brought to you by some serious big hitters from the local foodie scene…

First came Roller’s Bakehouse, then came Butter Boy, and now all eyes are on Manly’s newest all-day Greek diner, Norma’s Deli. The diner opens daily from 8am – 4pm, complete with hot saganaki, taramasalata with freshly baked pita, lemon sorbet, Sangiovese and
Single O coffee.

“The inspiration behind Norma’s deli is a desire to have people experience the best of food and drink, breakfast, lunch and dinner,” explains general manager, Mitch Macdonald. “It’s to have a meal with your family, your friends or your significant other. To eat from the land, the earth and the sea and to experience the best seasonal produce has to offer.”

Owner, James Sideris’ named Norma’s after his grandmother and takes inspiration from the family’s Greek heritage. Joining his all-star team is head chef Luke Papalia (former sous at Pilu), general manager Mitch Macdonald (ex-Hubert), and head baker Darek Rojkowski
(former pastry chef at Bert’s).

The breakfast menu is a beautiful balance of sweet and savoury, including:
– Baked bougatsa – filo, vanilla creme, cinnamon, honey, walnut crumble, orange syrup
-Taramasalata toast – with soft boiled eggs, lemon zest, bottarga, chives
-Baked eggs – green shakshuka with lemon yogurt

Must-try dishes on the lunch menu, according to Mitch, include:
-Norma’s pastitsio – spiced ragu, bucatini, kefalotyri and herbed bechamel
– Rotisserie chicken (half or whole) – slow roasted in Norma’s French rotisserie oven,
served with deli marinade, chicken gravy
-12-hour braised lamb shoulder – served with charred spring onion and lamb jus

“Drinks range from a finely tuned and dynamic coffee program from Single origin to some of the best young European and Australian wine and spirits I could get my hands on,” Mitch adds. “In short, dynamic, energetic and delicious.”

If passing by, visit Norma’s state-of-the-art bakery counter for by-the-slice baklava, lemon tarts, fresh bread and olives. Like Sideris’ other two bakeries, his latest venue follows the “same philosophy of eating something of beauty, finesse and tradition without dogma.”

The crew opened Norma’s in late December 2022 and are excited for the year ahead. “Opening the week before Christmas was… tough but rewarding. I feel like we learned a year’s worth of lessons in about four days,” Mitch reflects. “The locals have been exceedingly patient which I’m eternally grateful for. Moving forward, what really gets me excited is for Manly and the Northern Beaches to experience the full offering and potential of Norma’s as we kick it into the night with our fantastic team.”

In short, Norma’s is the essence of the good life in the Mediterranean and reminds guests of the romance in food when they need it most.
