This Halloween, Narrabeen Lake was transformed into a scene of pure enchantment as 45 witches took to the water for She SUPs’ annual charity paddle, raising $1,000 for Breast Cancer Network Australia.

With broomsticks swapped for paddles and spells replaced by laughter, the event was a spectacular mix of fun, fitness, and fundraising – and the community couldn’t get enough of it.

“She SUPS is all about creating a space where women can connect, paddle, and adventure together. Halloween is one of our favourite excuses to come together as a paddling community, and every year we try to raise the bar with our costumes and theme. I didn’t know how we’d beat last year’s Jurassic Park – but we did!”

“Trucks honked in support, joggers stopped to applaud, and even passengers on the B-Line bus snapped photos as the convoy of witches paddled past. “It was truly magic to create such a spectacle,” one participant shared. “If you saw us, we hope you know it was all to raise awareness and funds for BCNA – a cause close to our hearts.”

As a women’s paddleboarding community, breast cancer has touched many of She SUPs’ members. This year’s paddle was not only a celebration of sisterhood but also a heartfelt tribute to those who’ve faced breast cancer – and a reminder of the power of community in making a difference.

The Halloween paddle has become a much-loved tradition for She SUPs, with each year bringing a new theme, dazzling costumes, and a bigger impact. But after the overwhelming success of this year’s witchy spectacle, the group admits they might just have to bring the theme back next year. “It proved so popular we maaaay just have to do it again.”

For anyone ready to tick “paddleboarding with witches” off their bucket list, She SUPs welcomes new members year-round. With regular SUP adventures across the North Shore and Northern Beaches, every paddle offers a chance to connect, explore, and do good – one paddle at a time.
