Love to try new foods? Hop on down to Tokyo Cloud to try their Japanese souffle pancakes!

Tokyo Cloud is one of Manly’s newest cafes, and it’s serving up a taste of Japan with a delightful twist. Sure, you’ll find classics like Donburi rice bowls on the menu, but their most popular and Insta-worthy dishes are their cloud-like souffle pancakes.

Made famous by Tokyo’s Gram cafe (now in Chatswood), the three-stack Japanese souffle pancakes have become a cult favourite for their light, fluffy, and melt-in-your-mouth texture.

“Customers have been loving it,” says Tokyo Cloud owner, Kar Hoe Looe. “Lots of people haven’t heard of souffle pancakes, but everyone who has tried them can’t believe the texture and how well the savoury flavours go together in a pancake.”

Kar Hoe, who has experience working in restaurants in Japan, says the key to the fluffy souffle pancakes is sourcing premium ingredients directly from Japan. “We aim to create a culinary experience that transports you to the heart of Japan with every mouthful.”

Their biggest seller is the Souokonomiyaki – which is described as “southwestern pancakes meets okonomiyaki”. The golden fluffy pancake is topped with cabbage, green onions, bacon, okonomiyaki sauce, and nori flakes.

The dish went viral on Instagram with over 150,000 views and over 2000 likes when food blogger, Delicious Food Channel, visited the store earlier this month.

While the savoury creations like the Maple Syrup Karaage Chicken or Umami Mushroom stack will satisfy even the fussiest foodie, if you have a sweet tooth, you’re in luck.

You’ll find incredible stacks like the ‘Curly Cheesecake’ with crunchy toasted granola, cream cheese, homemade Vanilla gelato, and topped with cheese shavings. The Brown Sugar Boba stack with cream cheese, brown sugar, black pearls, and fresh fruit or the popular Creme Brûlée version with caramelised bananas, fresh strawberries, and vanilla gelato.

Don’t miss their epic drinks – on the menu are cold pressed juices, homemade iced crushes and sodas with flavours like yuzu, grapefruit, dragonfruit, and lychee or their signature cloud lattes like the dreamy Creme Brûlée Latte – made with ice, milk, infused espresso and topped with a layer of touched brûlée that you have to crack through with a straw.

With the cooler weather coming, it’s the perfect excuse to pop on in and support this wonderful new local business.
