The Boathouse Group have opened yet another local venue – The Espy is right on the water at Manly with the perfect summer beer garden.

Just recently launched on Boxing Day, The Espy is designed to add a casual outdoor offering to the Manly Pavilion Precinct in West Esplanade. After the demolition of the old Manly Sea Life Aquarium, the site has been transformed into a Mediterranean-inspired venue right on the water, with unobstructed views down Sydney Harbour. And it’s already proving very popular for summer!

Ben Collis from The Boathouse Group, says: “We are proud to announce this exciting addition to Manly just in time for summer. Finally, the iconic waterside location can be enjoyed again by the community after the aquarium closed back in 2018.

“The Espy offering has been crafted with Northern Beaches locals in mind. It’s perfect for families, dog-friendly and serves up a no-fuss menu with a great range of beers from our pals at 4 Pines.”

The opening of The Espy adds more variety to the precinct’s offering alongside the recent refurbishment of Manly Pavilion Bar & Bistro, Manly Art Gallery & Museum and Manly Waterworks.

“It’s really fantastic to see this precinct coming back to life with a range of offerings that appeals to all demographics.” says Collis.

Open 7 days from 11am – late, The Espy menu has been crafted for casual coastal dining to entice those coming off the beach with family or friends, including seafood, fresh salads, classic fish & chips, burgers and pizza.

The raw tuna poke bowl and prawn rolls are bound to be a winner, along with the tuna tostado, prawn tostada and bucket of fresh prawns. The kids’ menu offers pizza, a burger or fish and chips and comes with a colouring page.

The menu can be enjoyed with an ice-cold schooner thanks to the local partnership between The Espy and fellow Northern Beaches-born 4 Pines Brewing Co. The two brands have collaborated to build a brand-new container bar for the venue, serving 4 Pines and Brookvale Union alongside spritzes, cocktails and wine.

The Boathouse Margi sounds divine – with pineapple & jalapeño infused olmeca, altos tequila, triple sec + lime. For the adventurous, there’s the Espy Lagerita, which combines margi mix and ice cold 4 Pines Japanese lager. And there’s a good selection of non-alcoholic cocktails too.

Todd Atkinson, CEO of 4 Pines Brewing Co. adds: “We have been slinging beers and banter to the Manly community for nearly 17 years, and we are pumped to be able to do this with our mates from The Boathouse at The Espy – it will be one of the most iconic beer gardens in Australia. Bring your mates, your family, your dog, everyone is welcome”.
