Avalon locals have reason to celebrate with the opening of a brand-new (organic) cocktail bar!
The ever-popular Awaken Cafe has long been a cafe by day and bar by night, but the team are shaking things up (pun intended) with a new venture.
This Spring, Awaken will transform into The Garden by night, a tapas-style cocktail bar. With a focus on live music, musicians will take to the stage on Thursday and Friday nights and a DJ on weekends. Open from 5pm til late, with happy hour cocktails for just $10.
A short walk through the cafe takes you to the outdoor beer garden. It’s the perfect spot to unwind and enjoy a cold drink with friends – especially with the weather warming up. At The Garden, expect a selection of craft beers and cocktails using fresh and locally sourced ingredients. As for the delicious tapas, there are vegan and gluten-free options available so everyone can enjoy the menu.
Since it opened, Awaken has quickly become a popular destination.
It’s the kind of cafe that makes their own fresh almond milk without the preservatives, colouring and oils to make your coffee better (and your stomach happier). They don’t charge anymore for it than the MilkLab stuff you’re probably accustomed to (yes, it has colouring, preservatives and oils – sorry almond milk fans!).
From the beginning, their mission has been to not only provide incredible food and drinks, but a space for community events, activities and support.
On any given Thursday, you’ll find talented local musicians singing and strumming their hearts out. During the school holidays, their courtyard is filled with kids taking part in fun activities from craft to treasure hunts and giving parents some much-needed headspace to work.
Awaken’s commitment to the community extends beyond entertainment. They partner with CMCare, a disability support service, to offer employment opportunities to individuals with disabilities. Recognising their contributions, a local community member recently nominated Awaken for a 2024 Disability Inclusion Award (sponsored by the Northern Beaches Council).
If you haven’t ventured to Avalon for awhile, this could be the perfect excuse!
