Northern Beaches Council is encouraging the community to get behind the push to raise awareness of family violence by supporting the local community-led walk and events during the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence, 25 November to 10 December.

As an executive member of the Northern Beaches Domestic Violence Network (the Network), Council is involved with a series of community-led events and initiatives to educate, inspire and empower the community to stand up against all forms of gender-based violence.

Northern Beaches Mayor Sue Heins said education and systemic change is necessary if we are to combat family violence.

“Unfortunately, family violence remains a major issue in Australia and is occurring behind closed doors here within our community on the Northern Beaches. We all have a responsibility to call out abusive behaviour and support those impacted. Council is proud to work with the Network again in 2025 to support a series of community-led events and initiatives.”

“Manly Town Hall will be illuminated in orange, and I encourage everyone to join the walk or other events, stand up and speak out to help raise awareness and help to those affected,” Mayor Heins said.
