It’s hidden in plain sight right in the heart of Dee Why and directly across from the beach… here’s why the newly relaunched ULLO Dee Why restaurant and bar is creating such a buzz.

You can’t help but be intrigued when you spot the big orange glowing lightbox at 23 The Strand, Dee Why. Take the climb upstairs, enjoy the playful decor along the way, and maybe pause for a selfie on the stairs as the excitement builds. A surprise awaits at the top of the new ULLO Dee Why… sweeping ocean views, pine trees at eye level, and a buzzing balcony atmosphere.

It’s an amazing space to enjoy ULLO Dee Why’s new seafood menu and hand-stretched artisinal pizzas, too!

A Complete Reimagining For An Elevated Atmosphere

Fans may have noticed the very brief closure recently to prep for the relaunch, but the overhaul itself was six month’s in the making with the team focusing on both concept and menu.

“We’ve been putting an enormous amount of hours into refreshing everything, from our service style, offerings and branding throughout the venue and on socials,” says owner Kurtis Bosley. “We wanted all of our guests who have dined with us previously to feel their feedback mattered and guided our decisions in building a truly special space for everyone.”

It’s immediately apparent that ULLO is designed to shape unique experiences. Balcony seating captures the best of Dee Why Beach, while the bar and lounge areas provide versatile and inviting spaces throughout the venue. There are also larger dining spaces catering for functions and events for up to 50 guests in one sitting.

“At the heart of the venue, ULLO is a bar and restaurant,” Kurtis explains. “It’s lively, fun, and has spaces throughout that allow our guests to find the perfect space for their time with us.”

Vibe Dining And The New ULLO Dee Why Menu

What Beaches’ locals are going to really love is the implementation of what the team calls ‘vibe dining’. The focus is on curating the atmosphere so energy stays high and every guest can feel the good vibes. Staff are welcoming and upbeat, immediately setting the tone.

Entertainment plays a big part in shaping the experience, too. DJs play on selected nights, and the energy shifts from family-friendly dining before 6pm to a more elevated evening atmosphere that pulses with late-night energy.

“Gone are the days when people are going out every night, so we want that one night you choose to go out to be not just for good food and drink but to be fun!” says Kurtis. “We wanted to build a venue that is almost hidden, an ‘if you know, you know’ kind of vibe that gives the Dee Why community something unique and special.”

The exciting new menu features fresh seafood and artisanal pizzas, along with some innovative dishes. Shared plates are at the centre: think fresh calamari fritti, zucchini flowers, beef cheek croquettes, baked scallops, and soft shell crab salad.

Standout larger seafood options include mouth-watering Hibachi charred octopus, charcoal king prawns, mussels, grilled fish of the day, Sydney rock oysters, fresh tiger prawns, and a mixed seafood platter available for pre-order.

The artisanal pizzas are a highlight, hand-stretched and 48-hour slow-fermented using a blend of imported flours for maximum flavour and digestibility. From roasted garlic prawn to a classic margherita with burrata, every item has been thoughtfully added for maximum enjoyment. Meat lovers should opt immediately for the Smokey Buffalo Chook Pizza or the Slow Roasted Beef Cheek Pizza.

Desserts continue the inventive approach, with options like lemon myrtle cheesecake, piña colada pavlova, and tiramisu with Australian flavours.

Bottomless Long Lunches and Specials Nights

The team really has been busy coming up with new and fun ways for the community to come together for great food, drinks and views. ULLO Dee Why is hosting bottomless long lunches every Saturday and Sunday from 12pm – called their ‘Festa (free-flowing) Lunches’.

“We’re elevating your fave days of the week with our boozy lunch series that’ll have you wining, dining and weekending in style, from just $55pp with an option for a full vegetarian food menu or selection of our signature dishes to share.”

Wednesday is Date Night with a fabulous offering – $45pp for three courses and a glass of wine or beer; and Thursdays offer $20 pizzas all night. There’s also daily ‘Ocean View Happy Hour’, available between 4-6pm  with $5 beer, $8 wine, $10 cocktails, $10 truffle & parmesan fries, $18 crispy gojuchang chicken & $17 pizzas!

Since reopening, the response has been electric. Make sure you find this hidden gem because ULLO Dee Why is now a stairway to what the beachside community has been craving: exceptional food, sweeping ocean views and a space that radiates warmth, community and great vibes.
