“The Coastal Environment Centre (CEC) offers a school holiday program with a difference. With a unique theme for each day, your child will learn about our natural environment through a range of fun and interesting activities. Fun filled, action packed school holiday programs are offered during the summer, autumn, winter and spring school holidays. This is a great opportunity for children to learn about our environment and how they can help preserve it.

Good to Know: The holiday program is suitable for children aged 6 (who have started school) to 12 years (unless otherwise advertised). Programs generally run from 10am-3pm (unless otherwise noted) and cost $68.00 per child (per program).

Drawing Workshop: Memory and Making

Suitable for ages 8 – 14 yrs

Come draw with contemporary artist Lisa Woolfe, who will guide a creative drawing activity, using coloured pencils and inks, that commemorates or celebrates an achievement, special person, or life event, inspired by our ‘Ink in the Lines‘ exhibition. Participants will be able to take home their unique ‘self-portraits’.

Lisa Woolfe is an artist living and working on Cammeraygal land in Sydney’s North. She situates her work in the field of expanded drawing, making two-dimensional drawings on paper and three-dimensional drawings that she calls drawings in space.

St Ives Treetops Adventure + Playground

Families have a new experience to explore along the southern border of Ku-ring-gai National Park. St Ives is our newest Tree Ropes Course Park, hosting 95+ aerial obstacles and 10+ ziplines, all suspended between platforms to create a maze of activities in the treetops. Courses start at 1m for little climbers and jump up to 15 metres for bigger adventurers!

Sessions run for 2.5-hours to climb as many courses as you can during your session. You can choose to start on low easy courses or go straight up on a higher course. If you don’t feel like climbing up on a higher level, you are always welcome to complete a lower or same course again during your session. Your session includes harnessing, training and approx 2-hours of climbing.

When you’re done there’s a spectacular new playground to explore as well! Perfect for spring school holidays!

Ku-ring-gai Wildflower Garden Bush Kids Activities

Get your young ones to step into nature at Ku-ring-gai Wildflower Garden at St Ives and enjoy the great outdoors with adventure-based play activities these spring school holidays. The Bush Kids program is suitable for children aged 6 to 12. Depending on the session you choose, your kids could be learning bush survival skills, bushcraft and camping and so much more. Paint It Red Winter Festival, St Ives 

This family winter festival is a community event to remember, held at St Ives showground over two days in July.  It will feature a diverse food truck line-up, a huge market stall selection, as well as all your favourite carnival games and rides. There’s entertainment for everyone including face painting and fireworks, all for an entry fee of just $2. You can purchase wristbands for the rides at the event.

Indigenous Workshop, St Ives

Bring your children along to a special workshop that offers a hands on and immersive experience on Indigenous culture. The Didgeridoo master will perform with native animal sounds and stories through the didgeridoo. There will also be storytelling, artefacts, weaponry and bush survival. Best suited for kids between 8-12 years.

Brickwrecks: Sunken Ships in LEGO® Bricks

Explore the stories of shipwrecks like never before at this Australian National Maritime Museum exhibition. Brickwerks combines real shipwreck artifacts, hands-on interactives and audio-visual experiences with LEGO® models designed by Ryan ‘The Brickman’ McNaught. (He’s one of 14 LEGO® Certified Professionals in the world and the only one in the Southern Hemisphere). Tuff Nutterz, Centennial Park

The world’s biggest inflatable obstacle course is taking over Centennial Park these winter school holidays. There are 30 fun and challenging obstacles to complete in their brand new, 300m supersize maze. Giant slides, hanging rails, climbing walls, balance balls, you name it… All ages are welcome (parents included) and there’s a smaller obstacle course for the little ones. Four sessions run each day for 1:45 mins and bookings are strongly recommended to avoid disappointment.
