Roll through the rainy weather and keep your tires pumping at Sydney’s newest indoor bike park. Big Air Bike Park is a 1200-square meter purpose-built facility dedicated to biking and learning how to bike.

Whether you’re a first-time biker, looking to learn new skills or just want to practice your tricks, you’ll want to check out the Beaches’ newest indoor bike arena – Big Air Bike Park.

Northern Beaches resident and keen mountain bike rider Stephen Bruen said he spotted a need in the community for a facility where kids and adults could come and learn bike skills in a controlled supervised environment.

As the managing director, he is proud to have helped create a facility “with qualified instructors who can teach kids and adults bike skills to enhance their enjoyment of mountain bike and BMX riding.”

The Bike Park has a range of terrains to cater for all levels of riders, including:

  • Beginner Zone and Pumptrack – green jumps, berm corners and a pumptrack to get you started and test your skills.
  • Jump Lines – multiple progressive jump lines that range from green for beginners/intermediates, blue for advanced and black/red for experts/pros.
  • Air Bags and Resi Landers – 2 different sized airbag kickers of varying heights leading into them

Big Air run multiple sessions per day, Tuesday-Sunday with a limit of 35 riders. A 2-hour session costs $30 and a 3-hour session, available only on weekends, is priced at $38. Want to get Big Air but have no bike? There are BMX bikes and protective gear available for rent.

You can also hire out Big Air’s party room and bike park for epic adult events and kids’ parties. They provide all the facilities, and parents can relax upstairs in the viewing area and watch the kids have fun.

Despite only opening this week (March 15th), the Big Air team already have plans to open a bike repairs shop and a café. They also want to run events and encourage people of all ages and abilities to start biking.

“We’d like to see more female riders in the community, and we will be promoting this at the park with dedicated ‘ladies’ nights’,” Stephen says.

Big Air Bike Park opens year-round so it’s a great place to go if you need to escape the rainy weather. Keep your eyes peeled on their page for upcoming events and school holiday fun.
